Osabarima Kwaku Okoampa, Chief of kyem Banso in the Fanteakwa District, on Friday urged parents to take greater responsibilities in the education of their children.
He said the falling standards of education could not be attributed to inaction on part of teachers but rather parents who had neglected their supervisory roles.
Osabarima Kwaku Okoampa, who was addressing a durbar at Akyem Banso, said he was not happy about the situation where some parents did not provide the basic needs of their children and expected them to provide their own needs.
He advised parents to pay visits to schools to find out challenges facing their children.
The chief appealed to teachers to give off their best at all times and to be prepared to accept postings to remote areas and called for
more efforts to promote girl education.
