MTN Ghana has presented three laptops, internet routers and free data to Apam Senior High School (SHS).
Nana Asantewaa Amegashie, Consumer Segment Manager of MTN who made the presentation to the school said the items were prizes for five SHSs which topped in the “Old Skuul Reunion Text and Win Competition”, held in October, 2010.
She said the competition organised in partnership with Joy FM, an Accra-based radio station involved the old students texting the name of their Alma Mater to MTN Short Code.
Five schools with the highest number of text messages were selected for the prizes.
She said the winners were Apam SHS in Central Region, St Paul’s SHS in Volta Region, Okuapeman Senior High School in Eastern Region, Wesley Girls High School in Central Region and Yaa Asantewaa SHS in Ashanti Region.
Nana Amegashie said MTN was committed to the promotion of Information Communication and Telecommunication (ICT) education and would strive to encourage students to pursue the subject.
Mr Archibald Kobina Fuah, Headmaster of the School who received the items expressed gratitude to MTN and Joy FM for organising the competition.
The Headmaster commended the Old Students Association for making it possible for the school to be one of the recipients of the prizes.
“You have really demonstrated your love for the school,” the Headmaster said and urged them to keep it up.
Mr Fuah said ICT was the panacea to modern communication and appealed to the students to show commitment to the innovation.
Mr Eugene Kenny Ntreh, Event and Sponsorship
Co-ordinator of MTN said the prizes worth GH¢3,000 were presented simultaneously to the five schools by staff of the telecommunications network.
