Global social networking site Facebook has helped an Indonesian citizen of Indian origin to trace his paternal kins living in south Indian state Kerala.
Abubakker, a political activist in Indonesia, has found the ancestral home of his late father Hussan Kutty and siblings in Kannur with the help of a group of friends in Kerala, with whom he struck a bond through Facebook.
He had been eager to know about the family of his father, who migrated to Indonesia some eight decades back leaving behind his first wife and children back home.
Hussan later married Abubakker's mother and settled in Indonesia and never returned to Kerala, Abubakker said.
Though he knew that his father's family was somewhere in Kannur district of the state, he had not been able to gather their address for long.
Meanwhile, he met a person named Abhilash from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala during a chat on Facebook some time back.
Abhilash, with the help of his friends in Kannur, found the address of Hussun Kutty's family and contacted them. The call was a real surprise for Kunju Muhammad and Khadeeja, Hussun Kutty's children in Kerala.
Abubakker arrived at their ancestral home at Thamarassery yesterday and met his brother and sister, family members said.
