The Nyinahin Magistrate Court has ordered a 42-year- old driver, who knocked down and injured a pedestrian with his vehicle, to pay a fine of GH¢900.00.
Additionally, he is to pay GH¢1,000.00 compensation to the victim or in default serve 10 months imprisonment.
Kwadwo Kusi, pleaded guilty to careless driving and causing harm.
The court presided over by Mr Augustine Essah heard from Police Chief Inspector Napoleon Isaac Asherow that the accident happened on November 7, last year.
Kusi was driving a bus from Kumasi to Sefwi-Panpramase and knocked down Hamsa Abdulai at a spot near Otaakrom as he crossed the road.
The victim received multiple deep cuts and suffered a fractured leg.
The prosecution said Abdulai was sent to the Nyinahin Government Hospital treatment and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital owing to the seriousness of his case.
