We are pleased to announce the Ninth RRI Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change, co-organized by the Rights and Resources Initiative, Forest Peoples Programme, Forest Trends and Tebtebba.
This meeting will take place on Tuesday, 8 February 2011 at Stationers' Hall in London.
The upcoming Dialogue will continue to bring together leading actors in the forest, development and climate change arena. It will provide an early opportunity to interpret the decisions of COP-16 and assess the trends likely to shape 2011. Sessions will focus on:
- Taking stock of new developments from Cancun and identifying the key issues on the road to COP-17 in Durban
- The crucial role of forest restoration for both climate mitigation and adaptation
- The challenge of identifying and dealing with the drivers of deforestation
- Next steps towards formulating more coherent safeguards and recourse mechanisms for REDD+ programs
