The Young and Lonely Foundation, Ghana (YLF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), at Agona Swedru, on Sunday, organized an HIV/AIDS awareness programme at Akim Oda, in the Birim Central Municipality.
The programme was the Foundation’s contribution towards curbing the menace of HIV/AIDS in the Birim Central Municipality and surrounding areas.
The NGO has also held other such programmes at Ajumako, Asikuma and Akim Oda.
Mr Gilbert Kofi Germain, Executive Director of YLF noted that; “the AIDS scare is real.” and advised all to take the necessary precaution to avoid contracting the disease.
He asked the people to guard against sexually transmitted diseases, by staying with one partner, and urged couples to embrace family planning methods and do away “with the old belief that large families are a source of wealth.
The Executive Director said the YLF decided to help in the fight against the AIDS menace due to its devastating effect in the area, adding that, the Foundation needed resources to help undertake effective educational campaign.
