A circuit court in Cape Coast, presided over by Mr Samuel Asare Nyarko, has sentenced a 37 year-old labourer to 13 years imprisonment for stealing.
Alexander Appiah, a resident of Anokyi, a town near Mankessim, pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea.
Prosecuting, Sergeant Samuel Amoako told the court that, the complainant in the case is the head mistress of Mfantsiman Girls Senior
Secondary School, whilst the accused is a labourer working with Tally Roads, a company in Cape Coast.
Sergeant Amoako said Appiah is an ex-convict, and still on a Police wanted list at Saltpond, for burglary at the said school.
He said on December 10 this year, six policemen proceeded to Anokyi upon a tip off and subsequently arrested Appiah, who had in his possession some items, which bore the stamps of the school, including books and VCD cassettes, mattresses, sanitary pads, travelling bags, shoes, socks, towels and bed sheets.
Sergeant Amoako said after the arrest, Appiah mentioned one Ajua Asamah, as his wife, who owns the sanitary pads and the shoes however when his wife was invited for questioning, she denied ownership of the items and added that, her marriage with the convict had ended over 3 years ago.
The items had been returned to some of the students, who were identified as victims of the robbery.
