Owere Mines, a gold mining company operating in the Asante Akim North Municipality, on Thursday donated items worth GH¢2,500 towards the celebration of this year's Farmers Day in the
Municipality.
The items included a motor bicycle, 50 pairs of wellington boots and 30 cutlasses.
Mr Rogger Banister, Project Manager of the company, who presented the items to the Municipal Assembly at a brief ceremony, hailed farmers for
their relentless efforts towards food production.
He said without farmers, various sectors of the economy would not function effectively, and stressed the need for farmers to be celebrated
with the zeal and enthusiasm they deserved.
He noted that the donation was in recognition of the hard work of farmers and gave the assurance that his outfit would continue to support
farming activities in the Municipality.
Mr Thomas Osei-Bonsu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on behalf of farmers thanked the company for the gesture.
He said the company was among the few corporate bodies and individuals, who responded to the planning committee's appeal for assistance, and urged other institutions to also support.
