The Adentan Municipal Assembly has announced that
a programme to entice the youth in the area to engage in agriculture as a vocation, would commence next year.
Ms Nubyl Kakra Vanlare, the Municipal Chief Executive, who disclosed this, said that it formed part of Government's initiatives aimed at
increasing agriculture production in the country.
She was speaking at the 26th National Farmers' Day celebration in Ogbojo on Friday.
Ms Vanlare said the Assembly would solicit the support of development partners to fund its projects next year, which include youth in grass cutter production, tree planting, poultry and mushroom production.
Ms Vanlare said the Assembly would implement the projects through the Municipal Agricultural Development Unit, on the Youth Employment Programme.
He said the Assembly would procure pumping machines for distribution to identifiable groups to boost farming.
Mr Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Local Government, commended the farmers and fishermen in the district for the contribution to national
development.
He launched the 'Adentan Business Gong Gong', the newsletter of the Municipal Assembly, which would serve as businesses and investment
potentials directory for the District.
Dela Agbemakor, who was adjudged the District's Best Farmer, received a water tank, a motorbike, gas cylinder, and agro-chemicals.
