A labourer standing trial in a Kumasi Circuit Court for causing harm was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment in hard labour.
Kofi Nketia pleaded guilty to the charge.
Police Chief Inspector Mary Nana Adwoa Affanyi told the Court presided over by Mr Justice William Boampong that the complainant, Kwaku Mensah, operates a drinking spot at Asem, in Kumasi, the very place where convict also resides.
On October 15, at about 1900 hours, Mensah was attending to clients, when he saw Nketia standing just by his spot and smoking what he suspected to be marijuana.
He therefore came out and asked the convict to leave the premises and this angered him.
The following day, Nketia came back and this time, causing damage to the spot and as Mensah attempted to stop him, he picked a piece of wood and hit him hard twice on the forehead, opening a deep cut.
The prosecution said the convict was, however, overpowered by people around and handed over to the police.
He admitted the crime in his caution statement and said he did that under the influence of alcohol.
