The head of the Zongo community of Saltpond, Sariki Mama Nomabo I, has appealed to the youth from the three northern regions not to rush to the south to seek greener pastures.
He told the GNA in an interview that people from the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions must stay at home and pursue education.
Sariki Nomabo, known in private life as Mohammed Ben Mahmood, a Principal Technician at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, said there were no greener pastures in the south and that it was only education that could help them to improve their social status.
Sariki Zongo appealed to porters and other migrants from the north who are not in gainful employment to go back to the north and enroll in school.
He appealed to the inhabitants of the Zongo to initiate moves to improve upon the quality of life in the communities.
The Sariki said no one could develop the area better than those living there and urged them to embrace self-help to enable them to speed up
development.
Sariki Nomabo urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies to help to address disparity in facilities in the Zongo and other residential areas.
