The managements of four companies on Tuesday presented items valued at GH¢18,200 towards the celebration of the Greater Accra Regional Farmers' Day on Friday, December 3.
They are Expandable Polystyrene Products and Trading Limited (EPPL) Wire Weaving Industry (WWI), Melcom Ghana Limited and Baron Distilleries.
Mrs Lucie Odei, Commercial Manager of EPPL, presented life jackets, fish boxes, fish floats and take away containers valued at GH¢1,200 while
Mrs Edith Allotey, Head of Administration, Melcom Ghana Limited, presented 20 boxes of knapsack sprayers valued at GH¢6,000.
Baron Distilleries presented 10 cartons of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages valued at GH¢1,000, while WWI presented welded mesh, wire
nettings, barbed wires and chain links at GH¢10,000.
Receiving the items, Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, expressed gratitude to the benefactors for their donations and recognition of farmers' contribution to national development.
He reiterated the government's intention to invest more in the agricultural sector to help provide better working and living conditions for
farmers and fishermen.
The national event is scheduled for Somanya in the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern Region.
