Mozambique’s Jen became the 9th Housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother All Stars house during Sunday night’s live Big Brother All Stars Eviction Show (19 September at 19:00 CAT on DStv Channel 198).
The show kicked off with IK telling viewers that the game has reached its 10th week. Next IK gave viewers some insight into the week that was in the House – which started off with the housemates preparing for their malaria awareness task, wining their wager, donating food to the less privileged, enjoying the arena games plus the weekly party and ending off with messages from family and friends from home.
Meanwhile in the barn saw the arrival of Paloma, the subsequent visit of her sister. They also prepared for their weekly task while Lerato and Hannington had an argument, which end in confrontation.
Next IK crossed over to the house where Big Brother instructed Housemates to make their pledges against poverty. Standing side by side Uti, Munya, Jen Mwisho and Meryl read out the pledge to stand up and take action in order to end poverty.
After a short break it was time to get down to business as IK asked Uti to reveal how he had used his Head of House powers to influence the game. Uti explained to housemates that it was nothing personal but that he had decided to put Munya for eviction this week. According to Uti he had gone ‘ini mini miny moe’ and just happened to choose Munya. A visibly tense Munya rushed upstairs to get his stuff sorted after Big Brother gave him 10 minutes to do so and was followed by Kaone.
IK then introduced the talented Hip Hop rapper from South Africa, JR who entertained audiences with his hit Go JR.
Another highlight of the show was the messages Big Brother played into the house on Saturday from the housemate’s families from back home. Included were messages from Kaone’s friends and family, Jen’s family and friends plus messages from Zimbabwe from Munya’s family and friends. Audiences also got to see a message from Meryl’s mom and daughter as well as a message from Mwisho’s son.
Also in the show, viewers got to see an insert of IK interviewing Hannington after his departure from the Barn. In the insert Hannington discussed with IK the events of Tuesday evening which led to his eviction.
Then it was back to business and after the results of this week’s viewer vote were delivered by the Alexander Forbes representative and IK delivered the continent’s verdict. Then it was time to announce who was leaving the Big Brother All Stars house this week IK got straight to the point and announced Jen’s name after an dramatic pause.
Jen stood up and hugged Uti then Kaone and then went outside to where Meryl stood and the two said a tearful goodbye. While Munya stood by, trying to come to terms that he had survived eviction.
As Jen IK on stage the always energetic host asked Big Brother to cue some music, before asking Jen to dance for the audience, before asking his first question. “Tell me – why do you think the other housemates nominated you?†He asked. “IK I honestly don’t know, but yeah I just don’t know,†said Jen. IK then went on to talk to her about her alliance, “when you came into the house you had your little crew you used to roll with, but in the last few weeks you had a different crew, what happened to your alliance?â€
Jen responded by saying, “IK I never had an alliance, it’s just people I knew from last year, just as much as Meryl and Sheila themselves knew other people from previous shows, so it wasn’t an alliance but I wanted to take them as far as I could.â€
IK continued, “Speaking of people you knew from last year, we spotted one of the people you knew from last year in your message from home… err are you looking forward to seeing that particular person and other people?†he said in an apparent reference to Quinn who was seen in Jen message from home. To which Jen became very excited her eyes started searching for family and friends in the audience, which she failed to find.
Next it was time for Jen to deliver her own Dagger to the housemate of her choice. IK read out this week’s Dagger: “One housemate may not use any swear words for one week. Whenever another housemate swears he or she must shout out, ‘swearing is offensive and insulting’. This dagger commences immediately – that housemate is...,†he said. Laughing, Jen responded, “The audiences have spoken – Uti.â€
Before showing Jen highlights of her stay in the house, IK asked her to reveal her secret to the housemates. Having managed to keep it safe she will be taking home US$1000. “Ok housemates, when I was young and very na?ve, I was about 16 and I fell in love with an older person and my parents didn’t agree with it so I ran away for two weeks from home.†She then went on to say she came to her senses and later returned home.
With Jen ready to depart, IK what was different the second time around, to which Jen replied, “Everything,†before saying her goodbyes and leaving.
A few minutes later a surprised Jen entered The Barn. Where she told IK that she could see a goat when in fact there was Juliette, the cow. Jen then said she thought the Barn was the other House that the Housemates had been talking about. IK asked her where the other Barnmates were, she said they could perhaps be in the pool. As the show came to an end Jen could be seen exploring her new environment.
