The Minister in-charge of the Akim Oda Trinity Presbyterian Church, The Reverend Alexander K. Nyantakyi, has called on heads of schools to forge cordial relationships with District Assemblies to facilitate infrastructural development.
He asked the heads to provide visionary leadership by being innovative in offering solutions to the problems confronting their institutions.
The Rev Nyantakyi, who is also the Director of the Presbyterian Unit Schools in the Birim Central Municipality, made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at a seminar organised by the church for groups from the West Akim Presbytery.
He stressed the need for the heads to be more proactive in soliciting funds from the Ghana Education Trust Fund and other sources to undertake projects.
The Rev Nyantakyi said through government interventions such as the Capitation Grant, enrolment in schools, especially at the basic level, had stepped up, hence the need for school heads to be proactive in getting assistance for infrastructural development.
He said the extension of the duration for Senior High Schools to four years, had also posed structural challenges.
The Rev Nyantakyi urged school authorities to take keen interest in projects being executed in their educational institutions and to monitor the progress of work.
He advised the heads to endeavour to fence and protect school lands from encroachment.
