A circuit court in Cape Coast, presided over by Mr Samuel Asare Nyako, on Wednesday, remanded an 18 year old unemployed for stealing items, worth GH�1,319.00.
The accused, Eric Kwabena Nyarko pleaded not guilty and would be re-arraigned on Monday September 13.
Corporal Joseph Laare, prosecuting, told the court that, the complainant, one Mr Desmond Mensah, sells mobile SIM and phone cards at the Yamoransa lorry station and the accused reside at Yamoransa near Cape Coast.
Corporal Laare said on Friday September 3, at about 21.00 hours, the complainant closed from work and kept his hand bag containing a cash of GH� 330, two Nokia phones valued GH�60 and 74 pieces of assorted MTN
reload cards valued GH�200.00.
Other items included, 83 pieces of various denominations of reload cards of all the networks and 10 starter packs of MTN mobile SIM cards.
He said the complainant left the items in his room and went for a wake keeping and returned the next day about 01.30 hours, only to
detect that his room had been broken into and the items missing.
Corporal Laare said the complainant suspected the accused and later informed the police, who arrested him for questioning and he admitted the offence in his caution statement and led the police to his
house where a cash of GH�211, two mobile phones and assorted mobile phone cards valued at GH�350 were recovered.
