The Asamankese Circuit Court on Friday remanded in prison custody, Sylvanus Kofi Kunuya, described by the Police as a self-styled businessman for fraud.
Kunuya was said to have defrauded an old school mate of GHC 12,000.
His plea was not taken and he will re-appear on June 28.
Giving the facts of the case, Police Inspector D. T. Nartey told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Siameh that the accused met an old school
mate a few weeks ago and told him that he had some vehicles to clear at the port and needed GHC 12,000 to clear them.
He then promised to re-pay the amount within days, but when he was given the money he vanished.
The case was then reported to the Akwatia Police who last week received a report that the accused had been arrested by the Amasaman Police for a similar offence.
The Akwatia Police then went to Amasaman to bring him down to Akwatia, charged him with fraud and arraigned him.
The Police believe that he might have duped others and are therefore asking all those who had suffered similar fate at the hands of Kunuya to
report.
