A Global Institute of Business and Information, Communication and Technology Study (GIRIDTS), an educational institute at New Abirem, on Friday presented a computer worth GHC 800 to the Birim North Umbrella Youth Association (BNUYA).
The donation was part of the institute's social responsibility to communities and organizations in the district to help build the capacity of the youth in ICT.
Presenting the computer the director of the institute, Mr Foster Oteng, said the institute since its establishment a year ago had awarded scholarships to 10 Junior High School
(JHS) pupils who emerged first and second in the Newmont Inter-Schools "edutainment" competition and two other selected youth in the district to undertake free ICT training for three months.
He said the institute would provide the association with a printer and also award scholarship to the best JHS pupil in ICT studies at next year's Basic School Certificate
Examination (BECE) from the district to undertake ICT study for the general business examination certificate in information technology.
Receiving the computer the President of BUNYA, Mr Bernard Owusu-Boateng, thanked the institute for the assistance and promised to put it to effective use.
