The Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Assembly has voted GH�518,478.24 for the development of education in the area.
Mr Mohammed Boakye-Agyeman, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), said that the amount would be spent on scholarships for brilliant but needy
pupils and students, acquisition of school uniforms for children from poor homes, and the building of classrooms and other education infrastructure.
The MCE, who was addressing the second ordinary general meeting of the assembly at Ejisu, said that under the government's free school uniform and exercise books policy, about 50,416 exercise books had been distributed to school children in the area.
He said that the Assembly had taken delivery of textiles for the production of school uniforms for 1,921 pupils in the district.
Mr Boakye-Agyeman said that government had released GH�109,717.00 towards the School Feeding Programme.
He said that government was committed to creating a enabling environment for teaching and learning in schools.
Mr Boakye Agyeman said that the assembly would intensify its revenue collection to generate more funds for development.
Mr Nicholas Owusu Sekyere, Presiding Member, appealed to the assembly members to monitor the execution of development projects in the area to
prevent shoddy work.
