The Upper East Regional Police commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police Bright Oduro on Thursday urged officers and men of the service in the region to be of good behaviour and portray good moral standards.
He said the Police Administration would not condone indiscipline in the service and that who ever would be caught extorting money from people would be exposed and punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
Addressing a parade of officers and men of the service in Bolgatanga he said the Police Administration was introducing competitive promotion examination into the service.
He said police personnel should not grant interviews or give information to journalists without permission and even that should be
centred on current issues.
Mr Oduro commended the police in the region for helping to bring peace to Bawku, saying there had been a remarkable improvement in the area and
that Bawku seemed to have stabilized.
He called on personnel deployed in the area to take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere and conduct themselves more professionally to reduce the level of fear and insecurity in the municipality in the past few months.
