The Asamankese Circuit Court on Friday granted GHC 1,000 bail with a surety to Joseph Mensah, a Cocoa Purchasing Clerk, charged with stealing GHC 750 belonging to his employers.
Mensah who pleaded guilty with explanation will re-appear on July 5.
According to the facts of the case as presented by the prosecutor, Police Chief Inspector X. C. Okorey, on October 13 last year, the accused collected GHC 750 from the Sikaba Cocoa Buying Company at Suhum, his employers, to buy five bags of cocoa for the company.
After collecting the cash, however, Mensah was never seen again until May 27 this year, when the complainant, the Company's Chief Cocoa Officer, traced him to his hiding place and took him to the Suhum Police station.
In his caution statement to the police, Mensah admitted collecting the money but said he had made use of it.
A brother of the accused made part payment of GHC 150 to the court.
