The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), a global broadcasting network on Wednesday broadcasted its "Focus on Africa" and "Africa have your say" programmes live from the studios of Atlantic (ATL FM) in Cape Coast.
ATL FM is a local radio station located at the University of Cape Coast.
The broadcast heralded a partnership agreement with the two media houses.
The Business Development Manager of BBC, Mr Steve Martin said the partnership had offered ATL FM the opportunity to reach listeners across the Central Region and the nation with the new programmes and to provide better services with modern equipment.
He said the partnership agreement would facilitate the dissemination and broadcast of relevant stories from the local communities.
Mr Martin said the partnership include training programmes for the staff of ATL and installation of equipment to ensure smooth transmission.
Mr Michael Yao Wodui Serwornoo, Deputy Station Manager and the Affiliate Liaison Officer for ATL FM noted that BBC has 235 million listeners worldwide and would therefore offer
Cape Coast the opportunity to come to the international lime light.
He noted that the agreement would underline the position of ATL as the only radio station that provides Cape Coast with international news.
Mr Serwornoo said ATL FM was looking forward to staff exchange programmes between the two
organisations.
