Isaac Kobina Mensah, a driver, who stole a cab, valued at GH�1600 has been sentenced to five years imprisonment in hard labour by the Akim
Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District in the Eastern Region.
Mensah 28, pleaded guilty for stealing.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah, that at about 1800 hours on May 22 Mr Philip Arthur, the complainant packed the car in front of his house.
When he woke up the next day he detected that the car had disappeared and therefore made a report to the police.
He said on May 24, the Akim Oda police received a call from the Agona Brakwa Police that the convict was spotted at the lorry park selling a car tape, battery, water tank and speakers leading to his arrest by the police who suspected foul play.
Chief Inspector Ahenkorah said in the course of interrogation the convict confessed stealing the taxi, which was retrieved from him.
