Nine children, made up of four boys and five girls failed to show up at the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district.
The District Director of Education, Mr Isaac Amonoo, made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview after he had visited some of the
centres in the district.
He said a total of 1037 boys and 840 girls from four of the six examination Centres in the district are taking the examination.
At the Besease Senior High school examination centre, a total of 393 candidates, made up of 212 boys and 181 girls from 17 schools are taking the
examination, he said.
At Ajumako Ochiso Methodist Primary School centre, 365 candidates, comprising 203 boys and 162 girls from 12 schools are writing the examination.
Mr Amonoo said he and his team of supervisors have put all the necessary mechanism in place to ensure a peaceful and successful environment for the conduct of the examination.
