Mr Anane Boadi, Chairman of the Kade Ghana Private Road Transport Union and a driver are facing trial at the Asamankese Circuit Court charged with agreeing or acting together to commit crime of offensive conduct.
The Chairman and the driver, Kwaku Dankwa, have been charged with two others Yaw Okyere and Kwaku Darkwa who are at large.
They have been charged with behaving in a manner with intent to provoke the breach of the peace by unlawfully slaughtering a sheep at the palace of the Chief of Okumaning to signify his destoolment.
Anane pleaded not guilty and is on GH¢2,000 bail with a surety but Dankwa, who also pleaded not guilty was remanded in prison custody until
April 7, 2010.
Prosecuting Police Inspector D. T. Nartey told the court on February 24, this year that the Kwaebibirem District Security Committee had
information that Anane had mobilized Dankwa, Okyere and Darkwa to the palace of the Chief of Okumaning at about 0300 hours and slaughtered a sheep
signifying that the chief had been destooled.
Dankwa and Anane were arrested and after investigations they were charged with the offences.
The Judge, Mr Emmanuel Siameh, asked the prosecutor if he had consulted the Attorney General about the charges and he replied in the negative.
Mr Siameh then requested the prosecution to consult the AG office and adjourned.
