The Bibiani Circuit Court in the Western Region, has remanded a 35-year-old farmer into prison custody, for attempting to poison the drinking water of his former girl friend.
Kweku Kweyie's plea was not taken and would reappear before the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah, on February 24.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Erzuah, Sefwi-Wiawso District Police Commander, prosecuting told the court that, the complainant, Afua Owusuwaah had received death threats from the accused ever since they separated.
He said on January 22, Kweyie who was armed with a cutlass went to look for Owusuwaah at her cottage.
The prosecutor said a farm labourer who saw the accused rushed to inform Owusuwaah.
DSP Erzuah said the complainant later found out that a bucket of drinking water in the room had been diluted with a substance suspected to be poisonous.
He said with the help of some witnesses in the case, the accused was arrested and handed over to the Sefwi-Akontombra police, who after investigations charged him with the offence.
