The Bawku West District in the Upper East Region is undertaking major infrastructural development projects to open up the area for accelerated development.
Under the development vision projects like education, health, road network and social services would be given serious attention by the Assembly.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Imoro Adam Anaba made this known when he inaugurated some of the projects.
The projects included a six- classroom block at Atarikom -Gbera valued at 1,006,10.00 Ghana Cedis, two-unit block workshop for Kusanaba Vocational Centre at Kusanaba built at the cost of 74,624.51 Ghana cedis and a 51,884 Ghana cedis Community Help Planning Compound at Agatusi.
The projects were founded by the Canadian International Agency, under the District Wide Assistant Programme.
The DCE explained that the assembly decided to construct the classroom block at Atarikom -Gbera because the 278 pupils in the community study under trees, which he said was not enhancing teaching and learning.
Mr. Anaba also inaugurated a two-unit Carpentry and Joinery and Block Laying workshop for the Kusanaba Vocational Training Institute.
He said government was committed to the development of technical and vocational training to serve as a major tool to reduce poverty.
Mr. Anaba urged the people to plant trees around government projects and in their communities to serve as windbreaks.
He asked the School and Health Management committees to ensure that their lands are demarcated and documented by the land agencies to avert encroachment.
The District Director of Education, Mr. Paul Apanga thanked the District Assembly for the support and said the educational facilities would help enhance teaching and learning.
Mr. Apiiga Edmond Abanga, Principal of the Kusanaba Vocational Training Institute said the school needed accommodation facilities for the students to avoid overcrowding in their dormitories, which could cause the outbreak of communicable diseases.
