Two illegal gold miners, Nuredeen Ibrahim, 24, and Kofi Iddrisu, 33, on Friday appeared before Takoradi Circuit Court "A" for allegedly conspiring to commit crime, carrying and using offensive weapons, causing unlawful harm and stealing five jerrycans of diesel valued at 209 Ghana Cedis belonging to the Goldfields Ghana Limited.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges and were remanded to re-appear on February 9.
The prosecution said on January 15, the accused persons and two others now at large planned to steal diesel at the Goldfields Ghana Limited at Tarkwa.
He said the following day 16 the four persons went to one of the pits of the company and stole the diesel from a vehicle parked there.
The prosecution said the accused persons and the two others put the diesel in the jerry cans and carried them to a nearby bush but security personnel of the company came to the scene and arrested Iddrisu who shouted for help.
He said Ibrahim, who had a knife on him, went to the rescue of Iddrisu and in the process he stabbed one of the security personnel on the shoulder and stabbed Iddrisu in his attempt to stab the security personnel the second time.
The prosecution said the accused persons were overpowered and arrested but their two accomplices run away.
