Collins Antwi, a security man at a clinic at Hoviefe near Ho, has appeared before a Ho Magistrate Court charged with murder.
His plea was not taken and was remanded until 16 February.
Ms. Sylvia Okan, Inspector of Police, told the court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong that on 22 January a neighbour brought Antwi's son, Kwame Akatta, 7, home to him with a complain that the boy had damaged his car.
She said Antwi got annoyed and beat his son mercilessly.
Ms. Okan said Antwi refused to send the boy who was almost unconscious to the hospital until someone, who was moved by the boy's bad condition, sent him to a clinic at Tsiyikpota, a suburb of Ho.
She said the boy died 30 minutes on arrival at the clinic.
