They are the ones making the calls, negotiating deals, coordinating teams, managing relationships, planning events and, sometimes, solving problems long before the artiste steps in front of an audience.

For award-winning gospel artiste MOGmusic, one of those people has been Cecil Quartey, who has managed his career for the past 15 years.

Their long-standing partnership has largely played out away from the glare of the stage, but the results of that work have increasingly become visible, particularly as MOGmusic’s ministry has expanded beyond Ghana.

One of the clearest examples came recently when MOGmusic hosted his Back to Basics concert at OVO Wembley in London, a major international outing that brought his  music and ministry to a prominent global stage.

For the thousands who watched the concert, the focus was understandably on MOGmusic—the music, the performances and the atmosphere.

But behind the scenes was a different story: months and years of planning, coordination, relationship building and positioning that made such a night possible.

For Cecil, the Wembley concert was not simply another event on the calendar. It was the visible outcome of a relationship and management journey that has stretched across a decade and a half.

Managing an artiste for 15 years is no small feat, particularly in an industry where relationships can change quickly and careers can rise and fall with the times.

It requires more than booking shows or handling schedules. It calls for an understanding of the artiste’s vision, the ability to navigate the business side of entertainment and the patience to build for the long term.

That has been the less visible part of Cecil’s work with MOGmusic.

With a background in marketing, communications, media relations, digital marketing, content strategy and event management, Cecil has worked at the intersection of entertainment and corporate brand management.

His professional experience has also included work with brands such as MTN, Airtel, Vodafone, Zenith Bank and Western Union, giving him experience beyond the traditional boundaries of artiste management.

Over the years, that experience has been brought into MOGmusic’s career, from campaigns and major events to international engagements and relationships with stakeholders within the creative industry.

The journey has also coincided with significant moments in MOGmusic’s career, including award-winning periods, international opportunities and recognition on major platforms.

But perhaps the most revealing measure of Cecil’s contribution is not any single award or event. It is the longevity of the partnership.
Christian & Gospel Music

Fifteen years means being around through the quiet periods as well as the celebrated ones; making decisions when there is no audience watching and ensuring that the work continues long after the applause has faded.

The Wembley concert offered a rare glimpse of that behind-the-scenes work.

While MOGmusic stood on stage in London, Cecil’s role was largely invisible to the audience. Yet the organisation required to put an artiste on an international stage of that scale does not happen by accident.

It is the result of planning, contacts, negotiations, logistics, communication and an understanding of how to translate an artiste’s creative vision into a workable  project.

As Ghana’s creative industry becomes increasingly global, the role of professionals such as Cecil is becoming more significant.

The success of an artiste is no longer determined only by the quality of the music. Management, branding, communication, business strategy and the ability to build sustainable relationships increasingly determine how far that music can travel.

For 15 years, Cecil Quartey has been doing that work largely away from the spotlight.
