Chrissy Teigen's latest creative venture is something near and dear to her heart — robes.
The 35-year-old Cravings founder had lightly flirted with the idea of her own line for a while, but officially set the wheels in motion — by way of social media — on Thursday.
Sharing some photos of her gearing up for for production against colorful swatches, she tried to preemptively admit any shortcomings as she wrote 'Ok before everyone gets mad, I am in NO way a designer.'
Now making the jump from recipes to robes after finishing her third cookbook, she sat on the floor of her Los Angeles office in patterned jeans and a striped blazer with feathery trim options in her hand.
Behind her stood a mannequin draped in a red silk robe as she compared patterns.
Her once culinary headquarters looked more like a Project Runway design studio than a cooking space.
Teigen wrote that she was 'painfully aware' that this was not her typical medium of work as a preemptive defense mechanism, before explaining a bit about what led up to this moment.
'I can't draw, my sewing is on par with a life of my mom working at FabricLand, a child who dabbled in making pillows and puppets. But I am finding a lot of joy bringing *intense* color into my life and maybe yours!,' she wrote
'Robes are so fun - they don't have many rules when it comes to patterns...I appreciate their inability to be caged like myself! Anyhow now that book 3 is done, I'm taking a dive into this world. Please don't tell me I'll never be so and so, I know and I don't want to be!' she concluded.
Fashion friends like Rachel Zoe were quick to comment 'LOVE,' and others threw their support behind anything she chose to create.
Teigen took to her stories to share one isolated potential garment that looked to be a heavier prototype for an at-home overcoat as she shared how hands on she was throughout the process.
Above all she said that she found the process to be 'super fun,' also having first hand knowledge of the product as she likely boasts one of the largest robe collections known to Hollywood.
For her cookbook shoot she even enlisted some help from husband of eight years John Legend who humored her by matching in a robe and headband.
Despite seeming to temporarily retire her chef's coat, Chrissy gave herself a proud pep talk as she spoke about touring market/restaurant spaces in Beverly Hills on Thursday with a famed interior designer by the name of Jake Arnold.
She shared 'It is not often I am proud of myself. I have a fantastic quality of cheering others on but the downside of rarely being happy for my successes!' adding that looking at spaces to design was a real 'pinch me' moment.
A tough year for the model who tragically miscarried her baby boy Jack back in late September, she has been slowly trying to rebuild her life and broken heart day by day.
Between experimenting with sobriety, therapeutic horseback riding, a lot of cooking and family time with her husband and their kids Miles and Luna, and grief counseling, she has thrown herself into many avenues.
Earlier this week she acknowledged her somewhat packed days as a way to keep her mind off of the grief sometimes.
'Now trying to stay busy by hitting up fabric stores for robe ideas, playing a little bowser's fury, developing sauces, gemming my face and teaching you guys how to use my braiser!!,
'I always thought I loved being lazy but I'm starting to realize that underneath that day drinking person, I neeeeed to do sh*t,' she concluded, as she spoke about not slowing down.
