The winner for the MTN Hitmaker Season 8 will receive a grand prize of GHC120, 000 recording deal. This was announced by the Chief Marketing Officer for MTN Ghana Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson during the launch of this year’s Hitmaker competition at the MTN house.
He called on young persons with interest to become Hitmakers in the music industry to register and upload their demos on the MTN Hitmaker App available on Google Play store before the 20th of September 2019. The demos will be reviewed by renowned “Beat Makers” who will shortlist contestants for the live auditions. The shortlisted contestants will be camped and trained by a technical team made up of Voice Coaches, Choreographers, Music Directors, Image Stylists and many more. Contestants will be taken through breathing exercises, speech improvements, pitch and inflections, singing and rapping in key and other techniques required to prepare them for the entertainment industry. After the boot camp, 12 finalists will be unveiled to compete for the ultimate prize of GHC 120,000 in a 13 week eviction show.
Mr. Kojo-Ganson noted that, contestants of this year’s Hitmaker competition will undergo a series of briefings on how to use digital platforms to showcase their talent and drive the needed attention to their individual brands. He urged other music artistes to take advantage of the many digital platforms that MTN offers such as the MTN Play and Shortz platform to remain relevant and connected in today’s digital age.
Judges and beat Makers for this season were unveiled at the launch. Famous female musician Eazzy, Richie Mensah of Lynx Entertainment and Kaywa of Highly Spiritual have been confirmed as the judges for this year’s edition. Mix Master Garzy, DJ Breezy and MOG Beatz have been confirmed as the official beat makers. They expressed their optimism to unearth the finest talents who will take Ghana to the highest heights in the music industry across the globe.
The launch was graced by personalities in the entertainment industry and witnessed performances by season 7 winner OV, Dr. Drew amongst others. The theme for this year’s Hitmaker is "Live Your Wildest Dream".
The MTN Hitmaker since inception in 2011, has produced some of the industry’s top-notch musicians including Kuami Eugene, KiDi and Kurl Songx. Previous winners of the competition include Naterial (Season 1 Winner) Koo Ntakra (Season 2winner), Togbe, (Season 3 winner), Kidi (Season 4 winner) Kurl Songx (Season 5 winner) and Freda Rhymes (Season 6) and Okailey Verse (OV) (Season 7).
