French warplanes raided a Libyan command center south of Tripoli during an operation on Sunday night, French General Staff of the Army said Monday here in a press conference.
The command center was located 10 miles south of the outskirts of Tripoli and was destroyed by several Rafale jets during the night mission, the General Staff spokesman Thierry Burkhard said.
French Defense Ministry said the evaluation of the damage was underway but gave no more details.
Also on Sunday, the Elysee Palace issued a joint statement endorsed by French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister David Cameron, in which they vowed to continue the coalition military intervention until the objectives of 1973 UN resolution are fully met.
