A top anti-normalization committee, comprised of opposition parties and professional associations, urged the Jordanian government on Sunday to stop exporting olive to Israel.
The committee slammed the government's approval of exporting Jordanian olive to Israel, deeming the decision "shocking" to the Jordanian community.
"The government should go back on its decision to allow exporting olive to Israel, as this is an act of normalization with Israel," the committee said in a letter sent to Prime Minister Nader Dahabi.
Jordan's opposition parties and professional associations are strong advocates of cutting ties with Israel and repeatedly call for abolishing the peace treaty signed between Jordan and Israel in 1994.
In July, tens of professional associations' members and citizens took part in a demonstration, calling for stopping the import of Israel vegetables and fruits.
According to figures by Jordan's Agriculture Ministry, Jordan's imports of fruits and vegetables from Israel reached 7,000 tons in 2008.
