Soft drink giant Coca Cola will invest 10 billion U.S. dollars in a plant in Mexico to produce fruit juice, said Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Thursday.
To be built in Tepoztlan, a town close to the capital city of Mexico City, the plant will produce fruit juice using the Jugos del Valle brand, Calderon said Thursday.
"There have already been close to 5 billion (U.S.) dollars in investments, but the best part is that over the next four years there will be another 5 billion dollars invested in Mexico," said Calderon in the presence of many company executives.
The plant will employ 1,500 people and reopens a closed plant. Mexico is the world's number two consumer of soft drinks, in per capita terms, beaten only by the United States.
