The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bawku West, Mr Anaba Adam Imoro, has said Bawku West District had a lot of tourism potentials that could be developed to serve as additional
revenue source for the district.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after touring some communities in the district, he said the area had a slave camp where slaves from the
area, Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali were camped before they were transported to the coast.
He said some of the slaves were also camped in hallow baobab trees and other structures that were still existing.
Most of the items used in tying the slaves, Mr Imoro said, were also left over at the slave camp, adding that there were still a lot of wild animals like, elephants, lions, chimpanzees, antelopes, monkeys among others in the area.
He said the Ghana Burkina Faso border in the area could be used as a tourism point and that the assembly was planning to partner with the
communities to develop more tourism potentials in the area.
