Singapore launched on Tuesday a national media blueprint, the Singapore Media Fusion Plan, according to the country's Media Development Authority.
The plan sets out three strategies to propel the media sector forward. The first aims to provide the best environment for media business. The second leverages research and development to help the media sector exploit new opportunities in the digital media value chain. The final strategy calls for Singapore to remain connected to the world to enhance the international appeal of Singapore-made content, applications and services.
Funds of 230 million Singapore dollars (about 158 million U.S. dollars) have been allocated to drive the initiatives under the plan, coming on top of 500 million Singapore dollars (about 343 million U.S. dollars) already committed to interactive digital media research and development.
