The South Korean government said Tuesday it plans to create some 3,000 new job in the fields of culture, art and tourism this year in a move to help the sluggish job market.
South Korean Labor Minister Lee Young-hee and Culture Minister Yoo In-chon met on Tuesday to sign a pact to work together on creating around 3,000 new social service jobs.
The ministers also agreed to closely cooperate in promoting around 200 social service enterprises in the arts education, traditional culture and ecological tourism industries.
The government will expand job opportunities for those who seek for employment in the arts and culture sector, as well as upgrading the social value of culture in the nation, the culture minister said in a press release.
South Korea currently has just 12 culture-related social service enterprises and has recently been working on to increase the number of such firms.
