The Cardinal Namdini Mining Ltd (CNML) has donated essential farming implements and inputs to five districts in the Upper East Region as part of activities marking the 2025 National Farmers’ Day celebration. The items, which included six motor tricycles (Motor Kings), 60 knapsack sprayers, 80 pairs of Wellington boots, 100 cutlasses, five high-density mattresses and 20 bags of fertilizer, were given to the Talensi, Nabdam, Bongo, Bolgatanga East, and Kassena-Nankana West districts.
The gesture formed part of the company’s broader corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable development and strengthening community relations.
At a short ceremony to present the items in Tongo in the Talensi District, Mr Qi Xuanya, the Vice President of the CNML, said the gesture formed part of the company’s continued commitment to recognising the hardworking farmers whose contributions remained central to both local livelihoods and national food security. “At Cardinal Namdini Mining, we firmly believe that agriculture is the backbone of our local economy, the Vice President said.
“This sector not only sustains our families but also plays a pivotal role in enhancing food security and creating sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for our youth. By investing in agriculture, we are investing in the future of our communities.”
Mr Xuanya stated that the company was proud to have continued supporting farmers in the region, adding that the items were intended to boost productivity, improve working conditions and motivate farmers to continue contributing meaningfully to the nation’s food basket.
“These contributions reflect our unwavering support for the agricultural sector and our commitment to fostering sustainable development within our project districts.,” he added. He extended warm congratulations in advance to all farmers who will be honoured during the celebration, describing them as the unsung heroes whose tireless efforts ensured that families across the country had food on their tables. Their resilience, he said, was a testament to the strength and spirit of the Ghanaian farmer.
Receiving the items on behalf of the districts, Mr John Nabwomya, the Talensi District Chief Executive, expressed appreciation to CNML for the support, noting that the donation complemented ongoing efforts to promote agricultural development and encourage farmers across the region.
“They are tools of empowerment that will go a long way to ease the burden of farm work, strengthen productivity and help improve livelihoods of many households,” he added. He called for strengthened cooperation between the mining company and the authorities of the operational areas to ensure continued growth and development.
