The MTN MobileMoney Limited lMTL) has launched its innovative MoMo Business App at the maiden event of MTN DigiFest 2025. The app is designed to empower merchants and businesses in Ghana, providing a range of features that simplify financial management and enhance customer experience.
According to Sylvia Otuo Acheampong, Chief Products and Services Officer for MobileMoney LTD, "by leveraging digital innovation, businesses can stay competitive, improve operations, and drive growth., the MoMo Business App allows merchants to accept payments seamlessly through QR (Quick Response) codes, cards, and mobile wallets, track transactions and revenue growth in real-time, create and send invoices, access detailed financial reports, and enjoy a secure and easy-to-use interface”. She also noted that with the app, merchants can increase efficiency, improve financial control, and enhance customer experience through convenient payment options.
The launch of the MoMo Business App was part of the broader MTN DigiFest 2025 event, which aimed to promote digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusion in Ghana. In his keynote address, Mr. Steven Blewett, CEO of MTN Ghana, emphasized the importance of digital innovation in driving Africa's progress. He noted that MTN Ghana was committed to building an inclusive digital society, citing the company's investment of over $1 billion in Ghana's digital backbone over the past five years.
Mr. Ibrahim Misto, Chief Digital Officer at MTN Ghana, highlighted the company's efforts to build platforms that fuse entrepreneurship and opportunities. He mentioned that the event would feature experiential booths, UX/UI (User Experience/ User Interface) hackathons, AI (Artificial Intelligence) community sessions, and gamified engagements to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of innovators.
The event also showcased a number of digital entrepreneurs and their innovative products. One notable example was Nana Ghartey, creator of Abena AI, a voice assistant that caters to Ghanaian local language speakers. Ghartey's app has been well-received, especially by the elderly and those with visual impairments, who can now easily check and recharge their phone credits in languages likeTwi.
