Bright W. Ladzekpo, a prominent figure in Ghana’s marketing and media industry, has been named Media Leader of the Year at the 4th National FMCG Summit and Awards. The event, held at the Accra Marriott Hotel, also saw PHD Ghana, where Ladzekpo serves as CEO and Managing Director, awarded Media Agency of the Year.
In a call to action following the recognition, Mr Ladzekpo emphasized the need for greater support and strategic focus on indigenous African brands. Referencing the 2025 Brand Africa 100 survey, which showed no African representation in the top 10 of the Most Admired Brands category, he described the situation as a challenge the local industry must address.
“There’s an urgent need for marketing and advertising leaders in Africa to be more intentional in building strong, purpose-led local brands,” he said. “These brands must become not just competitive but truly admired on a global scale.”
The National FMCG Awards were organized by Global Ovations, with presentations made by Mr. Charles Opoku Mensah of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and Mr. Gideon Raji, CEO of Global Ovations.
Mr Ladzekpo’s career spans nearly three decades, with a proven track record of delivering brand and business growth across West Africa. He has worked with multinational FMCG giants including Diageo, ABInBev, SABMiller, Unilever, SC Johnson, and PZ Cussons, supporting product launches and spearheading innovative media campaigns.
The recognition comes on the heels of another recognition Most Respected CEO in the Advertising Industry, which Mr Ladzekpo received at the 7th Ghana Industry CEO Awards in November 2024.
With inflation easing, currency stabilizing, and investor confidence rising, Ghana’s FMCG sector is showing signs of renewed growth. Industry leaders like Mr Ladzekpo are optimistic that this environment provides a platform for local brands to scale with innovation and purpose.
