Olam Agri has reinforced its commitment to public health with the successful implementation of the 2025 cycle of its Healthy Baker programme, completing health screenings for more than 8,000 bakers across Ghana.
The initiative, undertaken in partnership with Twentyth Consult and various Regional Coordinating Councils, aims to help bakers understand their health status while promoting compliance with regulatory health and safety standards.
Launched in February 2025 in Takoradi, the programme initially targeted 7,000 bakers for comprehensive health assessments. Over the following months, the screening campaign expanded to other major cities, including Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast, ensuring nationwide reach.
By the end of the cycle, a total of 8,035 bakers had undergone health screenings, surpassing the original target. The programme’s success underscores Olam Agri’s proactive role in improving hygiene and health standards within Ghana’s food industry.
“Our vision is to create sustainable health solutions that enhance the quality of life and productivity of bakers, reinforcing our broader mission of supporting Ghana’s agricultural and food sectors,” said Soumya Saxena, Vice President & Business Head of Olam Agri’s Grains Business.
Beyond the numbers, the programme has empowered participants with critical health information, enabling early detection and promoting healthier lifestyles. Several bakers have been referred for further medical care, highlighting the programme’s role in bridging gaps in occupational health services.
With the success of the 2025 cycle, Olam Agri plans to expand the Healthy Baker initiative in the coming years, aiming to foster healthier working environments and support the sustainability of Ghana’s baking industry.
