The government is to invest and revitalise the defunct Branam State Farms in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region, Mr Malik Basintale, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced.
During a visit to the farms, Mr Basintale said the government through the Agency was working out modalities to provide the required machinery and resources to commence full operations of the farms.
He was at the farms as part of his visit to the region, stressing that the revamping of the Branam State Farms, remained a key initiative of the YEA to improve maize production and other food crops in substantial quantities.
Additionally, Mr Basintale said the Authority was exploring prospects in the cashew sector, as well as animal husbandry in the region, saying that was a strategic diversification aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity both in export and local consumption.
Mr Mustapha Omar Copson, the Bono Regional Director of the YEA, lauded the CEO’s commitment in changing the face and strengthening the Authority’s operations in job creation and increased national food production.
Miss Gloria Opoku Gyemfi, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, said the Assembly was dedicated to supporting the Authority in ensuring that the state farms resumed full operations, saying, the Assembly would also provide the required agricultural extension services as well.
