The benchmark index closed 9.87 points (-0.44%) lower to settle at 2,214.54 with a -13.91% year-to-date return as a result of falling prices in oil marketing and banking stocks while market capitalization slid 0.47% to settle at GH¢56.35 billion.
Three counters, Total Petroleum (GH¢2.89), Societe Generale (GH¢0.67) and Ecobank Transnational (GH¢0.09) hit their year lows.
The GSE Financial Index tumbled by 17.16 points (-0.90%), closing at 1,890.20 with a -12.24% YTD return due to Societe Generale (-1.47%), CAL Bank (-2.38%) and Ecobank Transnational (-10.00%).
The SAS Manufacturing Index recorded no gains or losses, closing at last Friday’s level of 3,745.98 with a -19.50% YTD return.
Trading activity weakened as 165,163 shares valued at GH¢246,282 changed hands compared to 793,058 shares valued at GH¢793,323 at the previous session. Enterprise Group Limited dominated trading, accounting for 75.92% of total volume traded and 86.56% of total value traded.
We expect activity levels to increase at the next session.
