Market Summary
Trading activity jumped as 3,487,366,001 shares valued at GH¢348,782,208 changed hands from 38,211 shares valued at GH¢56,101 yesterday. This was due to an exchange of shares in Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI) between IFC and Arise B.V.
The GSE Composite Index weakened by 12.87 points (-0.56%) due to losses in two telecom and banking stocks to close at 2,308.49 with a +10.25% year-to-date return while market capitalization declined by 0.23% to settle at GH¢57.65 billion.
Standard Chartered Bank (-0.39%) closed at GH¢18.01, dragging the GSE Financial Index down by 1.71 points (-0.09%) to close at 2,007.95 with a -6.77% year-to-date return.
The SAS Manufacturing Index recorded no gains or losses for the third straight session, closing at 3,833.74 with a -17.61% year-to-date return.
