Market Summary
Cal Bank Limited (CAL) announced a final dividend of GH¢0.048 per share for the 2018 financial year. The dividend signals a recovery in CAL’s performance after a massive write-off in 2016. Only investors who purchase or own Cal Bank stocks before Thursday, 2nd May, 2019 will be entitled to the final dividend payment. The final dividend will be paid on Thursday, 6th June, 2019. The bank will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 9th May, 2019 at the Conference Auditorium of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons at 10.00 am.

Enterprise Group Limited (+3.13%), Societe Generale Ghana (+1.12%) and Benso Oil Palm Plantation (+0.24%) advanced however sector indices trended lower. The GSE-FI shed 18.40 points (-0.86%) to close with a -0.34% YTD return while the SAS-MI shed 4.18 points (-0.09%) to close with a -1.14% YTD return.
Trading activity weakened, with 133,824 shares valued at GH¢118,117 changing hands from 123,596 shares valued at GH¢237,374 at the previous session. MTN Ghana (MTNGH) dominated trades by both volume and value, accounting for 44.66% of total volume traded and 35.42% of total value traded.
We expect trading activity to increase as companies continue to release 2018 full year earnings results.
