Mr Alex Opoku-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Director of National Service Scheme, has called on the youth to see agriculture as a profitable business venture, which must be taken serious.
He said agriculture has the potential to solve the unemployment situation in the country and safeguard the country’s food security.
The youth must be motivated and encouraged to venture into that sector.
Mr Opoku- Mensah made the call at the opening of a management and entrepreneurship training workshop for National Service Personnel in the Kumasi Metropolis.
It was organize by Kumasi Metropolitan National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) in collaboration with Eduwaynes Project Management Consult and Global Leadership Network.
It aimed at building the skills and capacity of the youth in project management and entrepreneurship.
Mr Opoku-Mensah appealed to traditional rulers and land owners to make land available to the youth to encourage them to go into agriculture in order to reduce unemployment and increase food production.
Mr Williams Addo, Managing Director of Ultimate Fashion, advised national service personnel to be ready to face challenges when they begin their own businesses, but they should remain focus in their efforts.
Mr Nelson Owusu – Ansah, the Regional Director of Youth Employment Agency, urged them to seek advice from successful businessmen in their business dealings.
