Eric Asubonteng, Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi, has assumed office as the new president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines. Mr Asubonteng takes over from Mr Kwame Addo-Kufuor, who ended his term at the 90th Annual General Meeting in Accra on Friday.
He will be supported by Mr Alfred Baku Executive Vice President of Goldfields West Africa, as first Vice President, and Mr Adriano Sobreira, Managing Director of Chirano Ghana, the second Vice President.
Mr Kwame Addo-Kufuor called for support from all stakeholders to enable the team to deliver on its mandate. “The Chamber will have a formidable team to champion the cause of mining going forward. Please let’s give them our support,” he added.
Prior to his election, Eric Asubonteng was the first vice president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines and a council member of the chamber.
