Imagine 8, organizers of SME Ghana Awards in collaboration with Vodafone Business Solutions, have held a two day training on packaging, branding and labeling for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Kumasi.
The training, aimed at exposing participants to the importance of packaging to their businesses, was attended by 100 selected SMEs in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Kwesi Ofori, Project Lead of Imagine 8, said packaging plays a vital role in marketing products and urged SMEs to make prudent investment in that area.
He said many products of the SMEs were of high quality but were not doing well on the market due to poor packaging.
Proper packaging of products, he said, could help position SMEs to compete favorably with foreign products which have inundated the local market.
They must engage the services of professionals capable of designing attractive packages that would arouse the desire of customers to purchase the products.
Mr Ofori pledged the commitment of Imagine 8 to sustain the SMEs in the global market by facilitating access to developed and emerging market across the globe.
Mr Edward Aikins, Head of Enterprise Products and Propositions of Vodafone, said Vodafone Business Solutions was designed to support businesses to meet their objectives through the use of technology.
It also makes the process of managing communications and controlling costs simple for SMEs by providing a broad range of products and solutions.
Dr Eric Owusu Mensah, Managing Director of Quama Foods, producers of Yofresh, who participated in the training, said it was an eye opener which would go a long way to enable the SMEs to improve on their packaging.
