Bantamahene, Barfour Asare Owusu Amankwatia IV, has commended Multinational Telecommunication Network (MTN) for its immense contribution to the socio-economic development of the country.
He said MTN through its innovations was currently leading the way in the mobile money transfer sub-sector to transform the financial transactions while contributing to job creation and employment opportunities for many people.
The company has also supported sports development and sponsored national teams.
Barfour Amankwatia was speaking at the Ashanti Regional launch of the MTN Initial Public Offer (IPO) in Kumasi.The launch was to introduce the 35 per cent shares of the company which had been floated on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to its customers and entreat them to buy shares in the company.
Barfour Amankwatia urged the people to take advantage of the public offer to buy shares and own part of the business which was growing from strength to strength.Mr Modupe Kadri, Chief Financial Officer of MTN Ghana, said the company had established 163 4G sites which was being enjoyed by over 3.6 subscribers in the region.
The aim is to ensure that customers enjoyed maximum satisfaction from its services, while making positive impact on the Ghanaian mobile telephony market.He said the company had also created opportunities for many people to develop and improve on their talents in the areas of sports, health and education.
Nii Adotey Mingle, Senior Manager, Sales-Operations and Trade Marketing, said one of the key goals was to build a high performance and customer centric culture by capitalizing on MTN-Ghana workforce’s skills and competencies.
