The guest speaker at MTN Business World Breakfast Meeting Mr. Echeruo has cited blockchain technology as a potential catalyst in the fight against corruption in African countries. This revealing statement was made at the 22nd MTN Business World Executive Breakfast Meeting held in Accra.
According to him, the nature and permanence of blockchain data makes it difficult, if not impossible, for manipulation. This is in consonance with best practices in some countries that have successfully employed blockchain technology in government services such as land registration, voting systems and supply chain management.
Chinedu Echeruo, the global tech entrepreneur gave expositions on issues pertinent to entrepreneurship and leadership citing circumstances leading to the development and success of the app HopStop.
He also indicated that conversations around entrepreneurship and leadership continue to dominate modern day business discussions. In addition, Mr. Echeruo said that “if there’s a certain je ne sais quoi, that drives businesses today, it is creativity.” Successful entrepreneurial ideas should therefore be creative enough to solve problems or provide services for a need.
Delivering the opening remarks, Ag. Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana, Samuel Koranteng said, “MTN committed itself to applying sound leadership principles in its operations to remain competitive. As a result, the business continuously makes significant investments in technology and innovations to enable the organization to drive its vision. He added, “Through comprehensive initiatives such as the MTN Apps challenge and support for the Ghana Multimedia Incubator Center (GMIC,) we have made it possible for many entrepreneurs to lead in today’s fast paced tech world.”
Chinedu Echeruo is currently the CEO and Co-founder of MindMeet. Prior to launching MindMeet, Chinedu created two U.S-based Internet companies; HopStop.com and Tripology.com. Tripology.com was acquired in 2010 by Rand McNally and is now owned by USA Today. HopStop was acquired by Apple in 2013.
